There have been many times when i suddenly see that my mobile data is almost consumed. I didn’t know anything about What Apps Use the Most Data. I just keep surfing the web, scrolling Facebook Feed, watching YouTube videos or Tweeting. I never thought that if i don’t slow down, my data will be consumed before the end of the month. When the warning that my data is almost consumed popup, i was surprised. I had consumed them so fast and it was not even the half of the month. I can’t use my phone without internet connection and i had to find a way to prevent my bad habit of consuming mobile data so fast.
If you are using any Apple Device running iOS 8, then the solution is pretty simple. I am going to show you What Apps Use the Most Data & How to Stop Them.
What Apps Use the Most Data
The steps provided below have an iPhone 6 as reference but the same steps and procedures are used in any other Apple Device running iOS 8.
There may be some apps that you don’t use very often but consume some of your precious data. To see what apps use the most data, follow these steps :
- Unlock your device and go to your Settings App.
- Find and Open the Mobile or Cellular Tab.
- After you open the Mobile or Cellular Tab, scroll down near the page end and you will notice all your installed apps listed.
- Under each App Name is the amount of data they have spent.
How to Stop Apps from Using your Mobile Data
After you find all your apps listed in Cellular Tab and the amount of data they have consumed, you can choose to allow these apps to use mobile data or just to work with WiFi.
To disable an app from using mobile data, find your app in Cellular Tab and next to App Name is a toggle where you can Enable or Disable cellular data for that specific app. Tap toggle once and that app will not use any data anymore.
Another Way to reduce amount of data spent is to turn background refresh for some apps.
How to Turn off Background App Refresh on iPhone Running iOS 8
If you want to reduce amount of mobile data used by some apps, you can turn Off Background App Refresh for some apps.
Now you can choose to turn Background App Refresh completely or just for some apps. If you use your device for important tasks, i would recommend you to turn background app refresh off only for apps that you don’t use or are not important for you.
But if you use your device for entertain purposes, i suggest to turn background app refresh Off completely.
Turning Off Background App Refresh on iPhone or any other iOS Device helps you to improve your battery a lot.
