If you own an iPhone, then probably you use it for different reasons. You use it to send texts, make calls, browsing the net, checking your social networks etc. To make our life easier, we install different apps to entertain us or to helps us take different actions on our devices. You can install apps from the official Apple App Store or from third party stores if you have a jailbroken device.
Every iOS user use different apps. Apps are full of features and help us to take different actions on our device or to entertain us.
To make their apps even better, app developers frequently keep developing new versions of their app, with new features and improvements. Everytime they submit a new version of their app to Apple, after the verification process, the update is available to all the users who have installed the app. You can check your app updates by going to App Store App on your device and by tapping on ” Updates ” tab at the right corner.
Apple introduced to all iOS 7 users a new feature for their operating system, called Automatic Updates. With this feature enabled, all the available updates for you apps will be automatically downloaded and installed. This is useful if you always are connected with WiFi but if you are on cellullar data most of the time, this feature can consume your mobile data plan very fast. This feature also drains your battery pretty fast if you have a lot of apps installed.

Note : I am going to refer to an iPhone but if you have an iPad or iPod, you can follow the same steps.
- Unlock your device and open Settings App on your home screen.
- Scroll down and find iTunes & App Store and tap on it.
- Find the Automatic Downloads section and under this section tap the toggle of Updates to turn it off.
That’s it. The automatic updates will no longer be automatic. Now you have to go to your App Store and update your apps manually.
