How to Sync Gmail Contacts on iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch
Step 1 : Unlock your device and launch the Settings App. Then tap on Mail, Contacts, & Calendars.
Note : If you already have added your Gmail Account on your device, then remove it and add it again following the steps provided here.
Step 3 : After you select Google, fill in the required information about your account.

Step 4 : After you complete the information required for signing in, tap on Sign In option.
After you complete these steps, open Contacts app and the syncing will begin automatically.
Set Gmail as Default Account on your iPhone or iPad
If you have added two or more mail accounts on your iOS Device and have selected iCloud as your default account and would like to set Gmail as your default Contact Syncing Account, then follow the steps below :
Set Gmail as Default Account
Step 1 : Unlock your iOS Device, launch the Settings App and then Go to Mail, Contacts & Calendars.
Step 2 : Scroll down and find the Contacts Section near the bottom of the page.
You should see the Default Account Option if you are syncing more than one account.
Note : Your Google Account will be labeled with the description you write when you first added this account to your device.
