Please, before trying one of the possible solutions listed down below, check your microphone one more time. There are times when specific apps aren’t allowed to use your iPhone’s Microphone. If microphone is not working only on a specific app, for example Skype or Viber, then check the microphone’s privacy options or update the app to the latest version.
1. Remove your iPhone’s Case
If you use a protective case to protect your iPhone from scratches or dropping, then make sure that your case is not blocking the microphone hole found usually on the end of your device, near the charging port.
Sometimes, manufacturers forget to design the microphone hole on protective cases, so if you found this problem on your case, you should buy a new one or use your device without a protective case.
2. Clean the microphone port
Our phone device, especially if you own a smartphone or an iPhone, which is used for hours and hours everyday, is exposed to all the dirt found on the world.
When you see your microphone, it doesn’t look as dirty as you may think, but with small amounts of dirt everyday, your microphone port may be blocked and your microphone may not work properly.
So, keep your microphone as clean as possible. Try to clean it off by blowing it and carefully use a toothpick or a needle to remove the dirt found in the microphone hole.
3. Update to the latest iOS Version
To update to the latest iOS Version Wirelessly, go to Settings – General – Software Update.
To update using iTunes, connect your device with iTunes, click on your device and then click on ‘ Check for Update ‘ option. If an update is available, a pop-up should appear telling you to download and update the latest iOS Version.

4. Enable Noise Cancellation
If you have microphone problems and you have iPhone microphone not working issue, one of the possible solutions is to enable Noise Cancellation. Unlock you iPhone and go to Settings – General – Accessibility – Toggle Noise Cancellation On.
Enabling this option, will make your voice calls more clearly and make your microphone work properly.
5. Restart your iPhone
One of the possible solutions to fix iPhone Microphone not Working issue is to restart your iPhone. Hold the Sleep/Wake button for a couple of seconds until the slider appears on your screen. Swipe the slider to the right to shut down your phone. Now, hold the Sleep/Wake Button again for a couple of seconds until the Apple Logo appears and wait until your device is turned on.
