But, if you have already installed iOS 9 on your device but don’t like it and would like to go back to iOS 8.4.1, then there is a working method you can try to Downgrade from iOS 9 to iOS 8.4.1.
How to Downgrade from iOS 9 to iOS 8.4.1
Note: If you are planning to downgrade because you would like to jailbreak your device using TaiG Jailbreak Tool, then You can only downgrade to iOS 8.4.1, which cannot be jailbroken for the moment. To jailbreak your device you need to downgrade to iOS 8.4 but there isn’t a working method to downgrade to that iOS Version.
Before starting the Downgrade from iOS 9 to iOS 8.4.1, please read these important points first:
- You will be able to downgrade back only to iOS 8.4.1.
- You will be able to downgrade as long as Apple keep signing iOS 8.4.1 firmware files.
- Always do a backup using iTunes before starting the downgrade process.
If you read carefully the points mentioned in the upper paragraphs, the second point says that you will be able to downgrade from iOS 9 to iOS 8.4.1 as long as Apple sign iOS 8.4.1 Firmware Files. To check if Apple is still signing iOS 8.4.1 at the moment you are reading this, open this website and see if a green row with a tick appears. If the row is green with a tick, then Apple is still signing iOS 8.4.1 and you can Downgrade from iOS 9 to iOS 8.4.1.
After you make sure Apple is signing iOS 8.4.1, then you can follow these instructions to learn How to Downgrade from iOS 9 to iOS 8.4.1:
There are two available methods to Downgrade from iOS 9 to iOS 8.4.1. The first method is recommended, but it is more time-consuming that the second method. Follow the steps below for more:
Step 1: First, you need to put your device in DFU Mode. (You can check this post to learn how to easily put your device to DFU Mode)
- Plug your device into your computer.
- Turn off the device by holding the Power Button.
- Hold the power button for 3 seconds.
- Begin holding the Home Button without releasing the Power Button for 10 seconds.
- Now, release the power button and keep holding the home button until a popup appears on iTunes saying that your device is in Recovery Mode.
- Click the OK Option on the popup.

Step 4: The next screen will give you info about the iOS 8.4.1 Update. Click on the Next Button and then on the Agree Button.
Step 5: iTunes will now download iOS 8.4.1 Update and then install it to your device.
After the restore process is finished, you should see the Hello Setup Screen. Now. you can restore the backup you did before starting the downgrade process to recover your data.

The second method is much faster, but it is not the recommended method even it works perfectly.
Step 1: First, you have to turn off Find My iPhone via the Settings App. Go to Settings – iCloud – Find My iPhone and turn it off.
Step 2: Connect your iOS 9 Device to your computer and launch iTunes.

Step 5: iTunes will inform you that your device will update to iOS 8.4.1 and you have to click on Update Button.
Step 6: iTunes should now start downgrading from iOS 9 to iOS 8.4.1.
Step 7: After the downgrade process, your iOS Device will restart and should successfully be downgraded to iOS 8.4.1.
This is the second method to Downgrade from iOS 9 to iOS 8.4.1.
Note: Apple can stop signing iOS 8.4.1 Firmware any moment. After Apple stop signing iOS 8.4.1, you won’t be able to downgrade.
If you get “This device isn’t eligible for the requested build” Error Message, then Apple has stopped signing iOS 8.4.1 or you have downloaded the wrong firmware file.
