How to Clear Cache on iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch

How to Clear Cache on iPhone, iPad or iPod TouchIf you own an iPhone, iPad or iPod and know a bit about computers and machines and how they work, you probably have heard about Cache.

For all who don’t know what cache is, Cache is a memory to store something temporarily so the machine can reduce the load time and work much faster. For example, when you open Instagram and load a photo, next time you load again the same photo, it will be loaded directly, because after it is loaded once, the photo is stored in cache memory for faster access.

If you have a 16Gb Device, the cache memory could be a problem for you. You may run out of space and have to clear cache to free up some memory.

In this post, I am going to show you How to Clear Cache on iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch.

Actually, to clear your device cache you can use different methods.

Method 1 : Restart Your Device

It may sound silly, but if you restart your device, you clear some of its caches. Just hold down the power button and wait for your device to be turned off and then turn it on again. After you do this, the cache of some apps will be cleared.

Method 2 : Delete the Safari Cache

You can delete the Safari cache to free up some memory. Go to Settings – Safari and scroll down & tap Clear History & Cache.

Method 3 : Using Third Party Softwares

There are a lot of different software available for Mac or Windows which help you to clear your device cache. The software I have used is called PhoneClean by iMobile. It is a paid software but if you have real problems with your device cache, it is worth it.

If you don’t want to spend money on software, read the next method.

Method 4 : Using a Cydia Tweak

This is the best method to clear the cache on iPhone. To make this method work, you have to jailbreak your device. Follow my previous posts to learn how to jailbreak your device.

After you jailbreak your device, open Cydia and search for a tweak called ” CacheClearer “. Install it and when you go to your installed apps list, under each app size you have ” Clear Cache ” option, which clears the cache for a specific app. I use this tweak a lot and free up a lot of space on my iPhone.

Another useful tweak to clear cache and your device junk files is called ” iCleaner “. Go to Cydia and search for it. After you install it, its icon will be added on your home screen. Open it and after you tap Clean, it will delete all your apps unwanted files, junk files, cache files and a lot more. You will free up a lot of space using this app.
